Location & Accessibility = 3 Foggy Forest Cottage is nestled in the serene village of 'Beeni' in Banjar, a quaint town in Himachal Pradesh. The cottage offers a tranquil retreat, far removed from the noise and activity of the highway. Its surroundings are rich with attractions such as temples, Chenni Kothi, and more, making it an ideal base for exploration. Accessibility could be a concern, as there is a slight downhill walk from the parking area. During my stay, I noticed that the steps leading down were not properly constructed or maintained, which could pose a challenge for some guests. |
||
Room Quality & Cleanliness = 0 While the wooden rooms at Foggy Forest Cottage are beautifully crafted and thoughtfully designed, the presence of large black spiders emerging unexpectedly from hidden corners at any time of the day was disconcerting. Although I initially overlooked this issue a few times, it eventually became a recurring concern, leading me to cut short my stay at the homestay. Regrettably, this experience was a significant drawback and a key factor in my decision to rate it poorly. The rooms and the attached washroom were maintained in a clean and tidy condition, but clearly the pest control was clearly lacking. |

Service Quality & Amenities = 2 The owner of the homestay resided on the first floor of the house and was incredibly helpful in addressing various matters, including the unexpected presence of spiders. They went the extra mile by personally handling the situation, catching the spiders, and safely relocating them, which was greatly appreciated. However, it's worth noting that on occasion, the owner lost track of time, resulting in delays in serving meals. Since it is a homestay the amenities are basic and minimal. |
Food = 5 The meals at the homestay are prepared by the owner in their kitchen and made to order. This ensures that the food is not only warm and fresh but also incredibly delicious. |
|
Safety, Security & Guest Privacy = 3 Safety and security are well-maintained and typical for a place of this nature. Notably, the establishment has an active and energetic pet dog, adding an extra layer of security and ensuring a watchful eye over the premises. At times, I found that the level of privacy wasn't up to the mark, as the owner occasionally used the space outside the room for personal activities such as putting on socks and shoes or engaging in conversations. This could become a bit noisy and occasionally disruptive. |
