A Morning of Delicious Food and Market Exploration

Our day began with a delightful breakfast of jackfruit masala sandwiches, kiri bhath, and a vegetable curry, served with onion sambol. The flavors were exquisite, and the memory of the meal still lingers. After freshening up, we set out to explore the local market. However, the bustling crowds led us to change our plans and venture into the countryside instead.

A Serene Tea Break and Hopper Delight

We stumbled upon a charming shop offering tea and hoppers. As we enjoyed the delicious treats, we took in the breathtaking scenery that surrounded us. The tranquility of the surroundings was simply mesmerizing.

A Rainy Adventure to the Nine Arch Bridge

Feeling adventurous, we decided to embark on a short walk to explore the nearby area. As we ventured further, we came across a sign pointing towards the renowned Nine Arch Bridge. Excited to witness this architectural marvel, we set off on the trail. However, our enthusiasm was dampened by a sudden downpour. Undeterred, we continued our journey, getting drenched in the rain.

Witnessing the Majestic Nine Arch Bridge

After traversing a challenging clay path, we finally reached the Nine Arch Bridge. The sight was truly awe-inspiring. The bridge, with its nine arches, stood tall amidst the lush greenery. To our surprise, a train arrived just as we reached the bridge. It was the same train we had taken from Kandy to Ella. We captured the moment with photographs as the train passed by.

A Scenic Walk Back to Our Stay

We continued our journey along the railway track, enjoying the scenic views of the surrounding forests and tea plantations. The rain added a touch of magic to the atmosphere, creating a truly unforgettable experience.

A Relaxing Evening at Our Home Away from Home

As we returned to our accommodation, we indulged in hoppers, dal vada, and tea. Although the food was good, it didn’t quite match the culinary delights we had experienced earlier.

We crossed a small bridge over a river, admiring the serene landscape on both sides. Rice fields and charming houses lined the banks, creating a picturesque scene. Finally, we arrived back at our stay, eager to change out of our wet clothes.

To our pleasant surprise, our host had prepared hot tea and cups, anticipating our return. Despite our insistence on paying for the tea, she refused to accept any money, insisting it was a gesture of hospitality. Her kindness and generosity made us feel truly at home.

As evening approached, we enjoyed a delicious dinner of vegetables, dal, and sambol. The meal was a fitting end to a day filled with adventure and discovery. After dinner, we stargazed under the clear sky, enjoying the cool evening breeze. Exhausted from our day’s activities, we retired to bed, looking forward to exploring more of Ella the following day.
