कबीर के दोहे 

पाहन पूजे हरि मिलें, तो मैं पूजौं पहार।
याते ये चक्की भली, पीस खाय संसार।।

 “अगर पत्थर की पूजा करने से भगवान मिल जाते हैं, तो मैं पहाड़ की पूजा कर लेता हूँ. इसकी जगह कोई घर की चक्की की पूजा कोई नहीं करता, जिसमें अन्न पीसकर सारा संसार आटा पीस कर खाता है. कबीरदास जी ने इस दोहे के ज़रिए मूर्तिपूजन का विरोध किया है. उन्होंने कहा है कि जो आपके पास है उसकी इज़्ज़त करो, उसकी ही सेवा करो, वही सच्ची सेवा है, वही पूजा है. मानवता के लिए उससे ज़्यादा कुछ नहीं है. अगर आप घर में रहनेवालों की सेवा नहीं करेंगे और बाहर जाकर मंदिर में भगवान की पूजा करते हैं, तो इससे क्या फ़ायदा. “

English Translation:

This doha emphasizes the idea that if worshipping a stone (pahaan) can lead to a connection with the divine (Hari), then he would rather worship a mountain (pahaar) instead. He suggests that the mill (chakki) is beneficial, as it grinds grain that nourishes the world.
